What could be almost as good as blog comments? Link love. Bloggers love it when you link to them because it gives them more Google juice and more Technorati rank (more about that later). And most bloggers check their stats pretty often, so when you link to someone else’s post on your blog, they’ll definitely take notice.
Today’s assignment
Write a post linking to a blogger who writes about similar topics that you write about. You can write up a response to one of their posts, talk about why you like their writing, give them a prominent quote in your post or even just point your readers to their blog as a resource. Just be sure not to copy and paste the other blogger’s full post on your blog verbatim, because that’s just annoying. And no one wants to have an annoying personal brand.
If you don’t know who else is blogging in your niche or interest area, try using Google Blog Search. Just type in your topic or related keywords and click on “search blogs.” For example, here is a search I did on my niche: “nonprofit leadership.”
Once you write your post, share the link in the comments section below!
Note: Please tag your posts with “31bnb” to make them easier to share with us.

catching up a bit from being out-of-town…
Start a Creative Weekend To-Do List:

So as I'm catching up, I realize that I've already done this! Check out this post: bit.ly/aLpljT. I love using other style bloggers for inspiration, and I have no problem referencing back to them. Especially other newer bloggers who may need some recognition as motivation to keep going…
I updated my list post assignment based on feedback from fellow blogger Zone Artis, and made sure to give credit for a more thorough post:

Catchin up!
I posted a blog referencing another earlier today which fit in perfectly with challenge #6.

I added a link on my list post to a blog that very closely relates to my topic.

I've been doing this from the start (including a sidebar of my favorite blogs on Blogger, which is an awesome feature if anyone wants to do that!), so we're gonna count this one done.

The blog that I decided to write about is one of my favorites, The Moptop Maven http://moptopmaven.blogspot.com
Here's a post I wrote today for this assignment:

Hello,
I completed today's assignment. At first, I have to admit I pasted the whole blog post on my blog but have since removed it and rather tried to write a short summary of the author's post. I then answered the question the author asked in the last line of her post. Writing the summary was a good exercise and I think very worthwhile. It is a good skill to be able to condense a good post into a few lines to be able to tell your reader more about what you are commenting on.

Happy blogging all!
I combined today's assignment with the List assignment because I'm a bit behind =) Here it is: 10 Blogs for DC Changemakers http://fusedc.org/2010/08/06/10-blogs-for-dc-ch…
I actually didn't do this one today (yet) but did it pretty recently on my b3HomeDesigns blog.

What I am curious about is what folks think about doing this and then (or, is it before??) dropping a line to the blog you linked to and letting them know you did it? is that too much?
I know I see lots of great projects out on the web. Especially for this niche, I need to be able to do my own projects (something unique people will stop in for), but I also really like giving credit to folks who inspire/provide ideas specifically for others to replicate (it's the DIY blogging purpose).
Rosetta makes a good point about not copying verbatim, but even in this realm, folks get a bit upset about you using their photos even as a teaser. Probably because it is there home and they want you to come to their blog. So for me, I recreate the project, show off my photos and then prominently (??) link back to the post for the actual tutorials and inspiration.
I'd love feedback/thoughts on the post above. Should I be reaching out to the blogger first and asking to feature their idea so that I can get access to a finished photo from them? Is what I'm doing fine? If you were a DIY'er, would you be frustrated seeing a cool finished project and then having to link back over somewhere else to actually get the instructions?
Thanks in advance for your help on this one.
Here you go… adding to @nonprofitorgs list of blog content ideas for nonprofits:

Since my blog redesign I forgot to put in my blogroll! I pay attention to people who talk about Nonprofit Leadership, Nonprofit Tech, Grantwriting, Marketing and Philanthropy.
So I've put links to some of my favorite blogs into my free stuff section

Is this the right way to complete this assignment?

Today's challenge was a bit tough for me as there are a lot of blogs that I enjoy….just didn't know how to link to them appropriately and seemlessly in a post. But, here is my attempt at the assignment.
Thirsty? Or Maybe He Just Really Likes Me
http://thecandyshoppe.wordpress.com/2010/08/06/…
I really enjoyed today's challenge! Not only did it give me the opportunity to research some other nonprofit professional bloggers, but it led me to really read into their content and analyze their posts. This is something I would like to incorporate as a regular part of my blog.
